| Pnoy says doctors will be sent to check on Napoles |
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said authorities should make sure businesswoman and alleged pork scam mastermind Janet Lim Napoles will be back in her detention cell once she has recovered to avoid perception that she is receiving special treatment.
Napoles has sought permission from the Makati Regional Trial Court to undergo a medical examination at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City. Her legal counsel Atty. Bruce Rivera said she has experienced profuse menstrual bleeding for the past weeks which could be due to cancer cells in her ovary.
"Kung talagang kailangan operahan, hindi pwedeng andun ka nalang palagi. After maka-recover ka na dun ka na ma-dedetain. Kailangan mga isang linggo or dalawang lingo nakarecover ka na, balik ka na ulit,” Trillanes said.
(If she really needs to undergo the surgical procedure, it doesn’t necessarily mean that she would be confined there all the time; that after she recovers, she will be detained there. She should come back after one or two weeks.)
The camp of Napoles earlier said depending on the outcome of the medical exam they may ask the court to place the businesswoman under hospital arrest.
President Aquino said it will be up to the court where the alleged scam mastermind will be detained.
Napoles is currently detained in Fort Sto. Domingo for the serious illegal detention case filed against her by pork scam whistleblower Benhur Luy.
The businesswoman is also facing charges over the pork barrel scam where supposed bogus non-government organizations (NGO) benefitted from the priority development funds of lawmakers.
